Kernow Alstroemeria is run by Thomas Rickard who is a partner of Lanoyce Nurseries alongside parents Brian & Kathryn, and is the largest Alstroemeria grower in the UK.

Kernow Alstroemeria grow over 20 varieties of Alstroemeria  producing 4 million stems annually under 1.6Ha of glass, using state of the art lighting, biomass heating and solar powered soil cooling systems.

We have recently launched Kernow Alstroemeria – a new department for the sale of our premium product over the internet.

We offer a variety of subscription and one off Alstromeria gifts with free next day delivery.

We deliver all over the UK and use no plastic in our packaging, everything is recyclable. Our aim is to champion what is being grown in the UK & Cornwall, like I said to you nobody really knows we exist.

We feel the company got lost in the corporate world supplying large supermarkets & national wholesalers.

Whilst we are still supplying these large retailers as Lanoyce, Kernow Alstroemeria is trying to create a new brand whereby people can learn and enjoy what has been grown in the country.

Kernow Alstroemeria was born out of Lanoyce Nurseries, the UK’s premier Alstroemeria grower.

Lanoyce produces 3 million stems a year, grown all-year round, on land that extends to a total of 16 acres, 4 of which are under glass.

Established in 1960, and still to this day a family run business, Lanoyce Nurseries has grown over four generations.

The company is now run by Brian & Kathryn Rickard alongside their son Thomas.

Lanoyce uses state of the art lighting, a biomass boiler and a ground breaking soil cooling unit – all to ensure productivity all year round.

Kernow Alstroemeria started in 2019 as a result of people becoming more interested in the origin of their product.

Premium stems of Alstroemeria were getting lost into the supermarket and wholesale world. Something had to change; so Kernow Alstroemeria was born to provide the freshest premium Alstroemeria stems direct to the customer, enhancing freshness, removing plastic from the supply chain and celebrating what can  be grown in the UK

 Lanoyce Nurseries
Our flowers are all supplied by our sister company- Lanoyce Nurseries

Lanoyce Nurseries was established in 1960 by Alan and Joyce Rickard and is still a family run business to this day, now being run by Brian, Kathryn and Thomas Rickard.  From that initial market gardening enterprise, it has evolved into the UK’s premier grower of Alstroemeria cut flowers with a glasshouse coverage of 1.5Ha producing 3 million stems annually, customers including national retailers, local and national wholesalers.
Great care is taken upon when selecting and growing different cultivars of Alstroemeria, there is always a search for year-round high-quality varieties that can withstand dark days in winter whilst still producing stems to our own high standards. This unique attention to detail has seen us in previous years contribute flowers to Gold medal winning stands at Chelsea Flower Show on multiple occasions. Further awards include winning the industry led Hortex Grower of the Year award and more recently being nominated for the prestigious Dutch Flower Group ‘Most Valuable Foreign Supplier’ award.

Alongside our attention to quality, we are extremely proud of our certification within the industry. Certification for the site currently includes GlobalGap farm assurance standard and BOPP Packhouse accreditation. Furthermore we have recently added to the list SMETA (Ethical trade) accreditation meaning our farming and employment practices comply entirely with the SEDEX ethical certification scheme. This allows the end customer to be sure that their flowers are produced to the highest horticultural and ethical standards.

Over time the technical nature of horticulture has become of paramount importance, combining high levels of automation with very high levels of efficient energy use.  Lanoyce has seen a shift to renewable energy which began with a small Biomass boiler being installed.  Later came a second larger boiler, followed by a solar panel installation; the generation for our own consumption within the heating and cooling systems. We are very proud that our significant glasshouse heating requirement of 1.5 Megawatts (Thermal) along with our day time electricity is now 100% from renewable energy produced on site.

Lanoyce has recently installed a state-of-the-art soil cooling system- whereby the soil temperature is closely controlled to allow for optimum growing conditions and as a result better quality for our customers. This cooling system is particularly effective in hot summers as alstroemeria really wants to have cool roots to promote better quality and yield. Lighting within horticulture has changed massively in recent years and we are currently trialling an energy efficient LED lighting system in a bid to cut our carbon footprint further whilst also optimising yields and quality
