Established in the late 1950′s, covers approximately 5 acres in a beautiful old Victorian walled garden, once owned by the Dukes of Bedford, growing a wide range of shrubs, trees (both flowering and fruiting), climbing and wall covering plants, rhododendron, azalea, camellia, roses and hardy perennials (herbaceous), many propagated on the nursery by our skilled and knowledgeable staff.

One of our propagating techniques is grafting, so if you want to save your favourite fruit/flowering tree or you have something new, we can graft it for you, very useful if you are moving home or as a reminder to give to members of your family.

We have a great range of West country apples and Tamar cherries grafted by us and collected by James Armstrong-Evans and Mary Martin (see photograph), which if it wasn’t for them, the old varieties would have disappeared from the countryside.

The staff are happy to help you, if you need advice or are looking for ideas for that new or revamping that tired garden. If you have a plant and you don’t know what it is, then we can usually identify it (sometimes it takes a little time, but we get there in the end!).

We also stocks a wide range of alpines, herbs, heathers, conifers and the usual (and unusual) season bedding plants, bare root hedging plants like beech and hawthorn (November-April) and soft fruit, where possible all these are sourced from local suppliers.

You can purchase your plants from the nursery, over the phone or online. There are full plant lists to download and read at your leisure, or you can view the plant list on the website, although limited at the moment, it is constantly being updated with the extensive range we grow. The pictures on the website are our own.

In addition to the great range of plants, the nursery has a good range of quality terracotta/stone pots, statues and bird baths etc. to suit all gardens and pockets.

So why not pay us a visit, you can look around the nursery, see the plants growing from cuttings to final saleable plants, soak up the atmosphere of being in the beautiful Tamar Valley. Dogs are always welcome and usually fussed over by the staff.

Opening Times are… Monday to Saturday 8am to 5pm(including Bank Holiday Mondays 9am to 4pm), Sundays 10am to 4pm
