Who we are

Blackawton Blooms was set up to provide wildlife friendly flowers that don’t cost the earth. A cheesy strap-line but it’s true and says everything about us! Blackawton Blooms was established in 2007 and is run by Jane and Clare who are both countryside ‘gals’ with backgrounds in ecology and the environment. We are passionate about wildlife.

Our flowers are grown to provide a sustainable harvest for any occasion such as weddings, parties, and other events. ‘Home grown not flown’ is our mantra and we grow our own flowers to avoid using flown-in flowers from other countries such as Holland, Kenya and South America, wherever possible.

We grow flowers you can’t buy in most florists, garages and supermarkets. They are cottage garden, wild and unusual flowers. They are frequently described, by our customers, as being ‘stunning’, ‘beautiful’ and even memorably ‘the most beautiful flowers I’ve ever had’ – all of that and long-lasting to boot.

Our flowers are wildlife friendly and whilst we are not certified organic we do practice organic growing. Our unique selling point is that we both grow and arrange – from seed to flower to bouquet, we do it all!

We grow on a site in Blackawton village, which is nestled between the Moor and the sea in the heart of the South Hams, Devon.

We mostly grow beautiful cottage garden and wildflowers with a natural feel and our arrangements range from funky to formal.

What we do

We grow cut and arrange flowers for all occasions big and small – weddings, parties, restaurants, hotels, holiday lets, funeral and individual gift bouquets.

We are happy to talk to you about your individual wishes and desires for your special occasion, either at our base in Blackawton or at your home.

You are welcome to come and see our cutting garden and polytunnel for ideas and inspiration. Our customers particularly value our personal, individual and caring service.

We grow our own flowers and use these for our arrangements but on rare occasions where we can’t provide exactly what you want we source locally grown first before buying in from abroad – a last resort.
