Vitacress is based at two sites in West Sussex and we have approximately 230 full time employees. We began producing fresh herbs in 1989 and today we are the UK’s largest producer / suppliers of fresh herbs to the UK retail market. Our two nurseries produce over 14 million fresh potted herbs per year and our packhouse supplies over 23 million packs of fresh cut herbs per year, sourced from our own production and selected other British and overseas growers. We have been producing Salad Cress at our West End Nursery for over 40 years and today we supply over 12 million punnets of salad cress per year. We also grow 4 acres of speciality tomatoes at our Runcton Nursery near Chichester in West Sussex.

At Vitacress we are passionate about the products we supply. Our dedicated growing teams work closely with our technical and operational colleagues to ensure that our products meet the high standards expected by our customers. Our fresh cut herbs are grown at our own sites under controlled glass house conditions, with additional supply from specially selected UK and overseas producers. Supported by a first class logistics network we are able to distribute superior quality products nationwide 52 weeks of the year. |

About Us We are one of Europe’s leading suppliers of fresh produce, specialising in watercress, salads and fresh herbs. Established in Hampshire 1951, we became part of the RAR Group in 2008. We have a proud heritage of market-leading innovation including the introduction of living herbs, and baby leaf salads, and market-defining salad leaves including bagged watercress, rocket and baby spinach. We have a wide range of customers in the UK, both under supermarket own brands and Steve’s Leaves, we are branded market-leaders in Portugal and also operate in Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. We employ 1500 people across Europe. We’re passionate about promoting the use of fresh produce, which is why we have introduced the Herbilicious and Wild for Watercress campaigns, as well as participating in the Make More of Salad campaign run by the British Leafy Salad Association. We have farms in the UK, Portugal, Germany and Spain, and a global sourcing network to ensure that, no matter what the season, we supply the freshest, tastiest, healthiest, most exciting products on the market. We are detemined to leave things better than we found them, and as such we have set up the Vitacress Conservation Trust to promote the well being of the unique chalk stream habitats where many of our watercress sites are based.
