Little Stour Orchard is located in West Stourmouth at the heart of East Kent. We grow three popular varieties of English apple – Discovery, Cox and Bramley – which we use to make our apple juice, cider and cider vinegar.

Our cider is hand made using our 180-year old oak press and a natural fermentation process. It can take up to a year to create our cider, and then a further year to make the vinegar. Our vinegar is unpasteurised and unfiltered. This raw, natural vinegar is widely believed to have health benefits.

We are proud to have been awarded the title ‘Best Kent Juice Producer’ at the Taste of Kent Awards in 2013 and 2014.
Our Cider Vinegar was awarded two gold stars at the Great Taste Awards 2014 and won ‘Best Kent Food Product of the Year’ at the Taste of Kent Awards in the same year.

Our products are grown, made and sold locally so you will find them in small independent retailers, farm shops, pubs and restaurants. Please contact us if you would like to stock our products, or if you would like to bulk buy directly from us.

Little Stour Orchard was established in 2011 and is owned by Sarah and Michael Bowers. We live in a lovely part of Kent near the coastal towns of Ramsgate, Broadstairs & Margate. Our ten-acre apple orchard is a bit further inland in the hamlet of West Stourmouth in an area that is perfect for growing fruit. This is where we grow our three popular varieties of English apple – Cox, Discovery and Bramley.

We are lucky in that the orchard was already mature when we took it over from a very experienced apple grower. We want to manage the land naturally, allowing wild flowers to flourish and encouraging insects such as bees to thrive in the orchard. Consequently, we do not spray our trees with pesticides or herbicides.

So what do we do with all our apples?? We have learned that it’s really hard work to grow eating apples. The consumer requirement for perfection means extra work for growers to ensure that the apples are perfect in colour, shape and size. Since we take all of our apples and turn them as quickly as possible into lovely fresh apple juice, we don’t have to worry too much about perfection. Because when you make juice, the apples don’t have to look flawless, they just have to taste great. No additives, no flavourings. Just pure English apple juice.

And that is what it’s about for us. Keeping things natural. Eating what is in season and buying local produce. Our ’10 ACRE’ product range is all grown, and made in Kent, and that’s how it will stay.
