About us Customers sometimes ask me how we got started growing Christmas trees, well… In 1989 we moved home to Dinmore Hill which had previously been run as a market garden, There was about 70 Norway Spruce left which we decided to sell off the side of the A49. Encouraged by this we took the decision to plant the whole site with Christmas trees, leave for five years, and then harvest, what a great idea we thought! For the next four years we struggled with the weeds (lots and lots of strimming!) but when we joined the British Christmas Tree Growers Association (BCTGA) in 1995 we realised where we were going wrong. At the very first BCTGA open day we attended at Santa Trees in Cornwall we recognised you can’t just plant Christmas trees and walk away, there is a lot to do on a Christmas tree farm all year around – planting, pruning, shaping, fertilising, bud rubbing, leader reduction, pest control. We have been selling trees from our Dinmore Hill site since 1994. In 2005 we moved into Festive Farm, Wellington where we grow the majority of our Christmas trees to supply the ever increasing demand of our two retail sites. In 2007, as a relatively young grower, we were thrilled to win the BCTGA Christmas Tree Grower of the Year Award with a traditional Norway Spruce and our prize was to supply an 18ft Christmas tree to the famous address, 10 Downing Street where we also had a tour of the building. In 2014 we were thrilled to win BCTGA Grower of the Year again, only one other grower in the country has managed to win more than once and this time on our visit to No 10 Downing Street we met the then Prime Minister, David Cameron.
We welcome many of our customers back year after year. See you in December! Colin and Davina

Christmas starts with a REAL Herefordshire grown Christmas tree! We have been growing Christmas trees in Herefordshire (with a lot of help from Dad) for 25 plus years. We love Christmas trees. Most of our year is spent working out in the plantations making sure our Christmas trees are in the very best shape for our customers when we open our gates from late November. But for us it is not just about great Christmas trees, we want our customers to have the experience they are looking for whether that is cutting a tree themselves, reserving well in advance, or simply dropping in to quickly pick up a fresh pre-cut tree. Our customers say coming to us to choose their real Christmas tree gets them in the Christmas spirit, after all if you want a real Christmas it has to be a real tree!! Hope to see you this year and a very Happy Christmas! Colin and Davina

Festive Farm WeekendsFestive Farm is positioned between the two villages of Wellington and Canon Pyon in north Herefordshire and is our largest site where we grow around 40,000 trees, so plenty of choice. Feel free to wander around this beautiful plantation, with views towards the Malvern Hills, and select you’re special tree. Or if you prefer, select a freshly cut tree from our large display area. Our friendly team are on hand to offer advice and assistance. We will net your tree and if needed carry it to your car. We are expert at putting large trees in (or on) small cars!! Whatever you are looking for we hope we have thought of it first… so you can choose from… |

Tree care The way to get the best out of your freshly cut Christmas tree: It is advisable to let a freshly cut Christmas tree stand for a day or so outside in a bucket of water before taking the tree into the house. We recommend you treat your Christmas tree like a cut flower, cut 1/2 inch off the trunk (stem) before putting it in water holding stand. Keep it topped up with water as you will be surprised a just how much it will drink. Display as far away from a heat source as possible, not next to a radiator or that roaring open fire or wood burner. Remember, the better watered and cooler you can keep it, the longer it will last. We occasionally find Christmas trees in our fields which have been cut but not sold with their needles still on at Easter. Merry Christmas from Colin and Davina
