We are British Garden Centres
Welcome to British Garden Centres where we pride ourselves on good old traditional family values. The company has been built by two Lincolnshire brothers who grew up with a passion for everything green fingered.
With years of experience and a wealth of gardening knowledge Charles and Robert Stubbs are now the proud owners of 57 well established garden centres, each with its own unique character but equally committed to offering the very best in quality products and expert advice. So why not pay us a visit, we’re not just a Garden Centre. We offer something for everyone, it’s a great family day out.
Bolton Garden Centre

A bit of Bolton Garden Centre History…

The Garden Centre started life as Deane Colliery also know as Victoria Colliery. The mining pit here sunk in 1898 with the old wooden head gear being rebuilt with a steel replacement in the early 1920′s.  The pit closed down forty years later in October 1960, with 134 men losing their jobs. When you visit our restaurant, look out for the historical pictures from the pit we have up on display. The restaurant was designed with the mining theme at heart to remember the history of the building and where it all began.

Barton Grange Garden Centre took over the land with their family run business.  They purchased it in 1987 and the building was built from scratch with the help of garden centre employees and management. The new garden centre opened its doors to the public in 1990.  Twenty three years later, in June 2013, Barton Grange sold the Garden Centre to the Wyevale group. This was the case until February 2019 when Bolton joined the British Garden Centres Family.
