We are a small family run plant nursery located in the idyllic village of Tissington which is in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park. The village forms part of the larger Tissington Estate which has been in the Fitzherbert family for hundreds of years.

Housed in the estate’s walled Old Kitchen Gardens, Tissington Nursery retains many interesting original features including two Victorian Foster & Pearson glasshouses, boiler house, potting shed and pump house.

The nursery is approx. 700ft (213m) above sea level and as you can imagine the winters are long and cold. During the extreme winter of 2010 we recorded night time temperatures of -25 Deg Celsius.

All of our perennials are grown on the nursery using Melcourt Sylvamix Peat Free Compost. The plants we produce (with a few exceptions) are hardy in Tissington and should do well in your garden.

Silver Medal Winners at RHS Chatsworth 2017 and 2018

Silver Gilt Medal Winners at RHS Tatton 2018, 2019 and RHS Chatsworth 2019

In the summer of 2017 we attended our first RHS show at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. We were very proud to put on a display in the Devonshire Floral Marquee and even prouder to win a Silver Medal. Our display was named ‘Stepping Into The Peak District’ and was inspired by our surroundings at Tissington.

In 2019 we had a mini ‘signal box’ taking our theme as the Railway that used to run behind the nursery and is now home to the Tissington Trail.
