Just a short drive from Cirencester, Stroud and Cheltenham, our nursery’s magnificent period glasshouses form a spectacular backdrop to our collection of plants, but also uniquely conjure up the atmosphere of a bygone age.

Miserden is a beautiful Cotswold village of honey coloured stone cottages overlooking the dramatic Golden Valley. It’s an enchanting place and our site feels magical within it. You can feel that magic when you stroll around, surrounded by some stunning plants and equally stunning scenery. Not only do we have our own display borders, but these are framed by some of the best of the Cotswold countryside.

It’s not just our location that sets us apart, so too does our plant choice as we have the more unusual, as well as the traditional. We are particularly proud of our herbaceous perennials which have been grown on site (a giddy 800 feet up) with oodles of passion and care. So not only will you know where your new plants have been raised, you can be sure they are tough and hardy and well used to the local climate.

To complement our perennials, we also offer superb David Austin roses, alpines, clematis and climbers, ferns, herbs, shrubs, regal and scented pelargoniums and bedding plants.

Our stock lists are changing all the time. If you are searching for a particular plant, please don’t hesitate to call us on 01285 821638 to check availability.

 Hope to see you soon!

Our beautiful café has been converted from one of the historic glasshouses on the nursery. Serving excellent coffee and delicious seasonal food, it’s a great place to unwind, meet up with family or friends or as the final pitstop on a walk around the beautiful Miserden countryside or estate gardens. And with its woodburning stoves, it’s sure to keep you toasty on these colder days.

HISTORY

At the heart of our four-acre nursery are five elegant period glasshouses and two imposing vineries which date back to the 1920s and were used to supply flowers and fruit to the Miserden Estate and surrounding villages.

The Foster and Pearson glasshouses are all different in their design and in amongst acres of glass, there are ornate wrought-iron supports and highly-engineered mechanisms to open the windows. There is an impressive network of hot-water pipes which used to be fed by two boilers under the potting shed. As the water got hotter, it would surge up the giant iron pipes and around each glasshouse, before being gravity-fed back down. In the vineries, this heat would have ensured a regular supply of grapes, nectarines and peaches for the Miserden Manor House.
